Bathroom Hints and Tips

1. To clean the toilet bowl add a 1/2 cup baking soda to 1 cup white vinegar in toilet bowl. When the fizzing stops, swish bowl a few times with bowl brush and flush.

2. To keep down the spread of germs always close toilet lid before flushing.

3. To conserve water with every flush, fill a 1/2 gallon plastic bottle with water and replace cap , Be sure to drain tank by flushing before placing bottle in tank.

4. To clean grout around the tub and shower spray it with white vinegar and scrub it with an old toothbrush. Let stand for 10 minutes then rinse. repeat if needed.

5. Use shaving cream to clean bathroom mirrors will keep them from fogging.

6. To unclog bathroom drains, pour 1 cup baking soda followed by 1 cup of white vinegar into drain to loosen clog. Then plunge and run hot water down the drain to be sure the clog is gone.

7. Pour 1/4 cup Arm & Hammer baking soda down basin and tub drains to deodorize,let stand for a few minutes then rinse.

8. To clean and deodorize basins and tubs sprinkle with Arm & Hammer baking soda,clean with a damp sponge, then rinse with water. Arm & Hammer Baking Soda is non-abrasive and will not scratch surfaces.

9. If you have an over flow do to a clogged drain, toilet,or leaking pipe use kitty litter to absorb the liquid.

10. If you have iron water and problems with rust stains in the toilet sprinkle lemon Koolaid around the sides of the bowl and in the water. Let stand for about an hour then brush and flush. the lemon Koolaid contains citric acid which oxidizes rust.


 ECO FRIENDLY CLEANING SOLUTIONS

1. All purpose cleaner: Mix 2 cups rubbing alcohol 70%,1 tablespoon mild dish washing liquid, and 1 tablespoon ammonia in 2 quarts of water. Fill spray bottle and use to clean bathroom, kitchen fixtures and appliances. Use a sponge or clean soft cloth to clean. than rinse with water using a sponge or clean cloth. Store remaining cleaner in a resealable bottle.

2.For tough cleaning: Dissolve 1/2 cup 20 Mule Team Borax in 1 quart of hot water, fill spray bottle and spray and scrub with sponge to clean. than wipe with water and sponge to remove any residue.

3. For extra tough cleaning: Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon Arm&Hammer Baking Soda, 2 teaspoons 20 Mule team Borax in 2 cups of hot water then add 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap. put in spray bottle and shake to mix. Spray and scrub with sponge, then wipe with water and sponge to remove any residue.

4. Window cleaner: Mix 1 cup white vinegar with 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Then clean windows and glass surfaces as usual.

5. 20 Mule Team Borax and Arm&Hammer Baking Soda can be found on the laundry aisle of your local grocery store.

6. NEVER MIX BLEACH AND AMMONIA AS IT MAKES A VERY TOXIC MIXER!

7.Save and wash out used spray bottles to use for your ECO friendly cleaning solutions. Be sure to label the bottles for future use.

8.Nylon scouring pads and used toothbrushes are good for cleaning surfaces.
